8 months FREE

Liam in the institution

Liam has been free for 8 months today. Free from those that stole his future and kept him locked behind closed doors. There are days when I still can't believe that he's here with us. Adopting from Russia requires a lot of paperwork, time and effort, not to mention money. It's exciting and stressful at the same time. It made me smile with hope every time I looked at his picture, and at times fearful that something would prevent Liam from coming home. There are always glitches in an adoption and you never know when the country you are adopting from may add a requirement and/or change one. Until I had court, and Liam was declared mine.....I was worried. But through it all, God was there. And I know the angels in Heaven sang out in glory, the day that Liam became free.

I have so many emotions with Liam's adoption. It still is hard for me to fathom that people let their children be sent to institutions because they weren't born "perfect" in their eyes. It blows my mind that the people in these horrific places, treat these children like they are worthless, and undeserving of love. I look at my tiny little boy, who will turn 8 in January, and I cringe when I think of what he has endured.

And yet, he still smiles and is such a loving little boy.

Don't get me wrong, the scars are still there from years of neglect and abuse, but I try not to dwell on it, and instead focus on the here and now. It will always be in the back of my mind as I still see him struggle with expressive speech, a sensory food aversion, and also his tiny stature.....daily reminders that no one cared.

But he's home now.....

And what has Liam been up to?

Most of you know, that he wears glasses (when he wants to LOL). He also wears AFO's for his weak little ankles. After his teeth were cleaned and treated for many months, I am happy to say that the gingavitus is mild now compared to severe when he came home. The peridontal disease is also not as bad as the dentist had thought. No bone damage.:) And Liam's heart is healthy, as well as his hearing.

Liam is still not talking. I have hope one day that he will. But even though he cannot express himself verbally yet, he shows just how much he loves me when he puts his little arms around my neck and lays his head on my shoulder. No words can describe how beautiful that feeling is for me.

Liam is signing more now. He signs "eat, drink, more, water, bath" and his new one, "MOMMY!"

Some of Liam's favorite things are : Water ( bath, pool, lake, waterpark), swinging and going for wagon rides, being barefoot, dancing to music, playing with Grover (his new favorite toy), watching Toy Story 3 (his favorite movie), wrestling with his brothers and snuggling with his Mommy.

Liam is now in kindergarten and rides the bus to school with Caleb and Elijah. Beginning next week, Liam will be swimming twice a week before school starts. He is going to LOVE that! And today, he had his very first school picture taken.:)

My beautiful Liam today.

Liam is loved, so, so loved. I can't express how much this sweet little boy of mine means to me. What a blessing he is! Thank you Jesus for the gift of our Liam.

Kindergartener x 2

Both Liam and Elijah are kindergarteners this year. And they were so stinkin' cute this morning! I had some trouble trying to get them to both look at me and smile. But hey, I tried and like I said, they are pretty dang cute!

Caleb's a 4th grader

Caleb was so excited to start school again. He could barely sleep the night before. I heard him giggling in his room long after I put him to bed. Because he was alone, I wondered what he was doing. I went in there and asked him, "What are you doing?" and he responded, "I'm burping!" He started giggling again. I guess that's more fun than counting sheep!:)

All ready to go!

Waiting for the bus to arrive.
