"The Funny Show"

Caleb loves watching America's Funniest Videos aka "The Funny Show". He gets so excited to watch it and laughs throughout the whole show. Every time a commercial comes on, he comes over to me and asks, "Mom, Funny Show?" and I have to reassure him that "The Funny Show" is coming back on. He just smiles and says, "Yea!":)

I'm a Prayer Warrior

I am a prayer warrior for these two precious little guys. One is 6 years old and the other is almost 2 years old. They share the same name (Nikita) and live in the same Eastern European country (one that I hold very dear to my heart). Nikita (bottom photo) has already been transferred to a place that no child should have to go. But he can still come home, if a family will take that leap of faith. And in a short couple of years, little Nikita (top photo) will be sent to an institution as well.:( This is not God's plan for any child, and we need to do our part....

"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."

The Reece's Rainbow Down Syndrome Adoption Ministry was created on the principles of Christianity and the teachings of Jesus. His command to "defend the cause of the weak and fatherless" is our primary purpose and foundation. He also teaches us that prayer is a key part of our faith, that it is powerful and effective, and that our prayers are HEARD.

John 14:13-14 "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" .
Matthew 17:20 "I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you"

Through our Waiting Child and Family Sponsorship Grant Programs, Reece's Rainbow provides a very personal and meaningful way to change the course of a child's life. Individuals can watch the progress of that child as their family goes through each stage of the adoption process, and finally, through the family blog after they are home. But many people who love these orphaned children and passionately support this ministry are not in a position to adopt a child at this time. Some are not even in a position to sponsor them financially. But prayer is FREE and can be even more powerful than an adoption grant in finding an adoptive family, helping with fundraising, and seeking God's favor in the health and well-being of each child as they wait "at the end of Reece's Rainbow" for their forever family.

Polar Plunge 2011 at OneTrueMedia.com

First came the 400 lbs. of ice and THEN the Plunge.....

Elijah signing "cold"

Caleb was really disappointed that he could not jump into the "ice water".

Ben after the plunge. We had several days before the plunge that were in the 50's so they were unable to safely walk out on the ice and jump into the center of the pond like last year. So they set up a pool, filled it with water from a hydrant and then right before the plungers began to start jumping, they brought in 400lbs. of ice and dumped it in the pool. Can you say "Brrrrrr?" Ben said the pool was colder than the pond was last year. Thank you to everyone who donated to the Plunge this year.:)

In the arms of Jesus

Sadly, I was told this morning that Alexander (Gibson) has gained his angel wings....
No words, just tears......
Now he's playing at the feet of Jesus, safe and loved.

Gifts From the Heart For Downs: Lot's Going On BUT Nothing Happening At the Moment...

Taken from www.giftsfromtheheartfordowns.blogspot.com: SEE THE BUTTON ON THE RIGHT->

I have several wishes to work on....and am doing a lot to network and fundraise....I am at a point, where without donations, wishes will go slow, until I raise the money to get them granted. For those wishes that I can get in kind donations....they will be granted, those that require funds will be placed in line, unless the wishes status changes for example....someone wants to meet a celebrity.....I need to fly them to meet that person....however, now the person is doing a concert or book signing for example and they can get there without air fare and I can get the other things donated.....those wishes then will be moved to the top of the list and worked on.

I am going to put this out there to never bring it up again. I will be doing fundraising on line like all the other foundations. We are a very small organization.....and at the moment, it is a one man show. I do it all. Which I don't mind....but I can't do it all and do it quickly......Presently I am doing the wish granting, the fundraising, the e-mailing, the thank you cards, the networking, working and most importantly raising my children. I honestly don't mind doing it all....however, when I try to do fundraising and I get just one or two donations, which don't misunderstand I appreciate....but there are a lot of people out there......and with a small amount from a lot of people, we could keep the wishes going. But because I now have to stop and do fundraising, wishes will have to take a back seat. Sean K's wish will be granted as soon as I have a date!!!!
The money is there and waiting for him.....after that.....there is nothing!!!!! I have asked people like other bloggers to donate $5.00 and to please spread the word to friends and family. Many of you are on Facebook....pass the word.....look what Gifts From the Heart For Downs is doing for our children.....this foundation is FOR REAL!!!!! Ask those who have asked for wishes and have been granted them. Ask those who have put in an application and I have responded to them. We as a group can grow this into something big and wishes will be granted quicker........please, I have seen it happen, through other blogs and therefore know it is possible. With your help we can make all these wishes come true and more......I will be launching a online fundraiser in March and April and hope that all will help and take part.

With that another application has come in.....I have a young adult who would like to meet Julie Andrews.

So if I can arrange with the celebrities these wishes.....they will all be granted in time.....some celebrities take more time than others....and some wishes take more funding than others, because of travel.......so with that to recap.....we have Sean K. meeting the Big Time Rush....which we all anxiously await for.....

Jimmy who wants to meet Garth Brooks

Dylan who wants to meet George Lucas

Alex who wants to meet Kenny Chesney

Brooke who wants to meet Brian Urlacher
This wish has been granted Brooke will meet Brian Urlacher in July/August during summer training.
AND

Julia who wants to meet Laurie Berkner
Which I believe will take place in March
Those are a couple of wishes that are being worked on. Applications to others are pending....and I look forward to granting more wishes as donations come in.......Thank you for reading!!!!!

In the loving arms of Jesus

Isn't he just the most perfect baby? When I look at Dante, I can see the face of Jesus.
Dante went home to be with Jesus this week.
He wasn't born an orphan but because he had Down syndrome, he became an orphan. He never knew what it was like to have a mother who held him in her arms and kissed his little face. He never was loved and adored by a family who felt blessed to have him as their son. And he never felt what it is like to have his Daddy throw him into the air while he giggled and then caught again as his Daddy laughed with him. I know that God's heart broke for this precious child of His..... and that He wept for Dante, who created in His image, became a forgotten child. This was not God's plan for Dante, not even close.
Please go to Reeces Rainbow today and see how you can help these precious children. We can make a difference; don't let someone tell you that we can't save them all. We can, if we listen to God's call. We can save them one at a time.

Special Friends Homecoming

This afternoon Jimmy attended a Special Friends Homecoming Dance that was put on by Washtenaw Christian Academy, here in our community. They wanted to share it with all of Saline's special needs HS students and young adults. It was decorated so beautiful (the pictures do not show how beautiful it really was) to the theme of "Narnia". The students and staff of Saline Christian Academy were so gracious and welcoming to our students. It was truly a day to remember. Jimmy and his friends had a blast. They had a DJ, dancing, games, a photo booth, a dinner, ice cream sundae bar, and more. This was the first year for this beautiful event and they said they will be making it annual event from now on.:)

Throwing "snowballs" at the girls!

Dancing with the girls!

Brandon had a great time. Isn't he adorable?:)

Jimmy and the Knight. Jimmy calls it a "KaNight". He knows how to pronounce knight but he chooses to call them KaNights anyway. He cracks me up!
